We mournfully announce the passing of John Lysaard Christensen on July 7, 2023, at Fairview Long-term Care Hospital, at the age of 92 years.
While John had a stubborn streak, he was a devoted son who always made sure to check on his mother. In his 32 years of partnership with his beloved Elly Kasprow, he was a wonderful and caring husband. Together, they shared countless adventures, from camping trips to attending music festivals (jamborees), often accompanied by their close friends, Connie and Larry.
A social butterfly, John loved being around people and making new connections and having long visits and chats with Les and Marilyn. He found great joy in friendly card games after meals, especially when he was able to beat Tom and Anna or Theresa and Peter.
An enthusiastic pilot and traveller, John’s love for the skies knew no bounds. He found immense joy in flying his own plane to various destinations, including the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska and Seattle. Traveling was a passion for John, and his favorite trips to Hawaii and Denmark filled him with cherished memories.
John was a farmer, through and through, who leased out his land and enjoyed participating in the harvest. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to others and was known for his loving and kind nature.
In addition to his partner Elly, John leaves behind his daughters Elaine (Howard) and Sheila (Ken), his step-family Ruth (David), Johnny, and Debbie (Earl), as well as his cherished grandchildren and his dear friend Larry Lovelace, who was considered part of the family.
As per John’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Instead, we invite everyone who knew and loved him to take a moment and remember him. His spirit will forever soar in our hearts, and his presence will be deeply missed.
