Barbara Jean Coulter (January 23, 1936 – October 23, 2021)

Barbara Jean Coulter, resident of Spirit River, AB, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, October, 23, 2021, in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 85 years.

Barbara was born on January 23, 1936, in Waterbury, Connecticut to William and Ethel Peck. After her schooling she moved to Montana, where she met the love of her life William “Bill” Coulter. They married on May 4, 1966, in Lake County, Montana. Barb and Bill ran a cattle and pig farm. On March 24, 1967, their son Frank was born.

In 1973, they moved to northern BC to purchase land to start a grain farm. In summer of 1981, they moved to Spirit River, AB, and started their family farm where their son Frank is currently farming.

Barbara’s three grandchildren were her world. She loved to brag about them to her friends. She was so proud of them all.

Barbara loved to laugh and her smile was amazing. She was a strong, hard-working woman. She loved the game of golf, Monday night bingo, and watching and cheering on her grandkids.

Barbara will sadly be missed by her son Frank (Shannon); her grandchildren who were her world, she will be deeply missed by Keana, Marissa and Tyson; her dear sister Bessie Nilson; as well as many of her dearest friends and family.

She was predeceased by husband William “Bill” of 35 years; parents William and Ethel; in-laws Archie and Ollie; sister Beatrice; as well as her brother Richard.

A Viewing was held on Saturday, October 30, 2021, 4:00-6:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021, 1:00pm, at United Church in Spirit River (4902 45 Ave.).
