Vic Wiebe (October 24, 1953 – November 24, 2019)

Vic Wiebe, resident of Silver Valley, Alberta passed away in Grimshaw Long Term Care, from complications due to Parkinson’s disease. Vic was born and raised in Kelowna, British Columbia, the sixth child of Peter and Trudy Wiebe. The focus of their loving Christian home was faith and family, both so very important to Vic throughout his life.

In January of 1973, Vic married Karen Tucker in his home church in Kelowna. A little more than a year later, they moved to Silver Valley where they have lived since, except for a few years back in Kelowna and a short time in Three Hills, Alberta.

Faith in God was a central part of Vic’s life. He served on church and camp boards in Kelowna and in Silver Valley. He was a creative person; his woodworking skills were known and appreciated by many.

He will be remembered for his friendliness, his ready sense of humour, an optimistic and cheerful outlook, coupled with strength and determination in spite of ongoing health issues.

Vic will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Karen; three daughters Jana Miko of Calgary, Jolene (Dave) Forcier of Spruce Grove, Jackie Wiebe of Edmonton, one son Justin (Helen) Wiebe of Sundre; thirteen grandchildren Hayden, Kayla, Madeline, Remington, Redding, Ripley, Victor, Vivian, Katriel, Nahum, Honora, Joelle, and Cai; two sisters Dot Egerton of Vancouver, Joy (Grant) Fumerton of Kelowna, one brother Shane (Alison) Wiebe of Silver Valley, and many nieces and nephews – Vic loved you.

Vic was predeceased by his parents Pete and Trudy Wiebe, sister Viola Steinke, brother Virgil, and an infant brother.

We will always remember his gentle manner, his zest for life, and how good it felt just to spend time in his company.

A funeral service was held December 7, 2019 at the Fourth Creek Community Hall, Fourth Creek, Alberta. Interment followed at Alexview Cemetery, Silver Valley, Alberta. Expressions of sympathy may be made by donation to the David Thompson Bible Camp, Box 2455 Fairview, AB T0H 1L0.
