Mary Felicia Wuttunee (February 26, 1923 – November 8, 2019)

Mary Felicia Wuttunee was born to Gilbert and Lillian Wutunee near North Battleford, Saskatchewan on Red Pheasant First Nation, on February 26, 1933. She grew up the eldest of 5 sisters & 2 brothers; Mary had 3 half brothers and 2 sisters as well. Mary passed away on November 8, 2019, in Fairview, Alberta.

Mary served in the Canadian Air Force and was very proud of her heritage. She taught Cree in Calgary and enjoyed attending Powwows/round dances as well as passing on stories and teachings. She was an independent and fearless woman who travelled the country from coast to coast, on her own most of the time, stopping to visit family and friends along the way. Mary enjoyed reading about the Royal Family, sewing, listening to Harry Belafonte, hunting/fishing and spending time with her family. She was generous and had a great sense of humour even in the last days of her life.

Blake, her only son, was the apple of her eye and he was her baby until the day she passed. She will be greatly missed by her son Blake Wuttunee-Campbell /Micaela; grandsons and great grandchildren Brandon (Jessica), Archer, Paxton; Jordan (Tamara), Kiara, Akaih, Nahani and Troy Wuttunee-Campbell, whom she adored with all her heart; they could do nothing wrong in her eyes as they were perfect.

We will be having a celebration of life in Edmonton in the spring and then she will be laid to rest on Red Pheasant First Nation with her Father, Mother, Sister and Brother.
